Yes. My nefew (by mariage not by birth) is like another child in my household. He calls me his "back up mom" . His family is a very disfunctional and I hope that I bring a bit of stability and nurturing to his life. I help him with school work and when he spends the weekend with us gets hugs and kisses and chores like my kids do.

Do You Have "Spiritual" Children?
by compound complex indear nurturing and caring friends,.
apart from religion - if that is where you are at this time in your personal development - do you have younger companions whom you view as "spiritual children"?
some whom you watch after and advise [with prudence and caution, of course], whose successful life course is of intense concern to you?.

Talked with an active JW....
by drew sagan ini kept forgetting to post this experience i had about a month ago.
there is an older guy that i know who attends my first congregation.
me and him where both what you would consider 'liberal' jws, not playing by all the rules and having many 'independent thoughts'.

We have the truth - part 2
by MutualRespectPlease indoes doing what is right in god's eyes mean we have to use only bible terms?
i know the organization is not perfect.
is there strong evidence that he has his people here on earth that although not perfect, are doing his will?

Remember, its between you and Jehovah God. Its easy to blast out a tough post, but where do we stand before God?
Take care everyoneThat exactly the point MRP, do you think God is going to ask you what organisation you belonged to? I have not stopped believing in Jehovah God. I don't feel I need an organisation of MEN to tell me what to believe and what to read and how long my skirt needs to be. That is why God gave me a conscience. What if the witnesses have it wrong what on earth are you going to say when asked "Who do you say I am?" Matt16:13-20. Well the GB told me I don't need to ask those questions and ponder the answers because I went to 5 meeting a week? Do you really think that is going to cut it?
Please explain why in the NWT John 20:24,25 speaks of nails in Jesus hands. If he was killed on the stake why would there be more that one nail through his hands? Please don't tell me the other was through his feet cause that scripture does not say anything about feet at all.
If John 17:3 speaks of only one God why does the NWT in John 1:1 speak of Jesus as "a god". Does that mean there are two God's in heaven?
I beg you to answer these questions from the bible and not from publications written by the WBTS because to me the highest authority is the bible because it is God's word. Many witnesses come here and post and don't answer direct questions, are you going to be the first?

Baby steps. Take one day at a time. In the mean time there are some things you can do to make your exit a bit easier.
Start making friends outside of the org. so that when you do leave you will have a support system.
See if you can take a course of some sort that will better your education.
Even though you feel suck right now this is not going to be your lot in life and things do change. Sometimes very slowly but as longer you are pro active and take charge you'll be ok.

Survey on rejecting blood and deaths
by Mrs Smith inhas there ever been a survey done on how many jw's die because of the blood issue?
i was just thinking that if a world wide survey could be done it would make people realise just how dangerous this religion is.
i remember reading somewhere that about 1% die because of refusing blood.

I was just thinking that if a world wide survey could be done it would make people realise just how dangerous this religion is. I remember reading somewhere that about 1% die because of refusing blood. Was that 1% per annum or since 1881? The article was not too clear. But if it's 1% of JWs for a year this amount is 60 000 people but I have no idea over what period this was calculated.

I love Redbush Tea from South Africa. It also comes in caffiene free vanilla, it's really nice. Damn now the yellow highlighter won't go away! It's good to see that one of South Africa's favourite is well recieved. It's also a very healthy drink. Many women here use it as a toner! It can be used to rinse a babies bottom between diaper change. We get it in all sorts of flavour. Peaches, Apple, Berries etc.

My Story
by LearningToFly inhello fellow forum members, i am very new here, and feel it is time to share a little about myself.
this site has gotten me quite riled up again, and even after many years my experience is not memorable and still upsets me when i think of it.
my beginning experience of joining the jw organization at age 6 was not unpleasant at all, and was not for many years.
